About this role
AndrenaM is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack who is passionate about advancing autonomy and real-time maritime communication technology. We’re looking for a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join us at our office in Hawthorne, CA. While we prefer this person to work onsite, we are open to hybrid or remote arrangements for the right candidate. This is a unique opportunity to be a core part of our founding team, shaping the product and technology from the ground up.
Our main engineering challenge is to develop a real-time data platform that can ingest, process, store, and analyze data from thousands of autonomous and semi-autonomous marine systems. This system must seamlessly handle a wide variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, data sources, and AI-driven analytics, all with military-grade security and robustness.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to develop features across the stack, from embedded systems deployed in the field to cloud-based data pipelines and user-facing interfaces.
- Lead the development of reliable, scalable systems that support real-time data collection and analysis.
- Drive technical decisions and contribute to the evolution of our software stack.
- Actively seek feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve the user experience.
- Provide mentorship and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
- Become the go-to expert for all challenges encountered.
Basic Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
- 6+ years experience in full stack development.
- Experience (or interest) in autonomous systems, defense tech, or related fields.
- Proficiency in developing high-volume data pipelines, cloud infrastructure and edge processing.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, React, C/C++, etc.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience working with embedded systems.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Strong experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and real-time data processing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with bias for action and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of electronics or hardware-software systems.
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is highly desirable.
- Developed, debugged and deployed software that has been used in real world applications and projects.
- Thorough knowledge of computer architecture and networks.
- Exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals.

Salary Range
$180,000 - $220,00 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of AndrenaM's total compensation package.
