About this role
AndrenaM is seeking an Mechanical Technician. This is a unique opportunity to join our team in Hawthorne, California, contributing to the assembly, testing, and maintenance of cutting-edge technology for autonomous marine systems.
Our primary challenge is to support the development of a real-time data platform that processes data from thousands of autonomous marine systems. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a key role in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting hardware to ensure seamless operation with a variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, and AI-driven analytics, all meeting military-grade standards for reliability and security.
In This Role, You Will
- Build and integrate buoy enclosures, internal frames, mounting hardware, and watertight enclosures from prototype to low-rate production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical engineers to route harnesses and mount PCBs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and fit composite, aluminum, steel, and polymer components using bonding and fastening.
- Install gaskets, O-rings, and sealing compounds; perform leak checks.
- Maintain jigs, fixtures, and calibrated tooling; propose improvements to optimize build efficiency and repeatability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues uncovered during dock-side and at-sea trials, feeding lessons learned back into the design loop.
- Follow detailed drawings, work instructions, and torque‐spec tables to ensure quality, traceability, and safety.
Some Types of Experiences We're Especially Excited to See
- Hands-on experience assembling electromechanical products—preferably marine, aerospace, robotics, or defense hardware.
- Proficiency with common shop equipment and hand tools; comfortable reading GD&T drawings and 3-D CAD prints.
- Familiarity with composites lay-ups, potting compounds, corrosion-resistant coatings, and marine-grade fasteners.
- Working knowledge of basic electronics integration (mounting PCBs, strain-relief, ESD practices) a plus.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong documentation habits, and an enthusiasm for fast-paced, iterative builds.
- Prior experience in a startup, R&D lab, or small-batch manufacturing environment is desirable.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Andrenam's total compensation package.
