About Andrenam

We’re building sonar and sensing systems that bring light to the last dark domain: the ocean. Our team includes alumni from SpaceX, Anduril, ABL, Qualia, and Saronic. We build full-stack—from physics to perception to product—with speed, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.
We believe the maritime domain will define the next century of geopolitics and global security. We’re here to shape it.

About this role

Andrenam is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer who is excited about advancing real-time maritime communication and autonomy. You’ll join a team building the distributed sensing network that acts as the central nervous system for maritime autonomy. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge, multidisciplinary projects, supporting national defense and naval operations through deep-tech hardware innovation.

We’re looking for someone with foundational experience in PCB design, power systems, and optics, who is ready to grow quickly in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Our main engineering challenge is to develop a real-time data platform that can ingest, process, store, and analyze data from thousands of autonomous and semi-autonomous marine systems. This system must be built to seamlessly handle a wide variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, data sources, and AI-driven analytics, all with military-grade security and robustness.

In This Role:

  • You will set the standard for hardware design in maritime autonomous systems.
  • You will tackle complex engineering challenges related to electronics, from concept through to production.
  • You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including software engineers and autonomy experts, to develop and refine our technology.
  • You will set the standard for hardware design in maritime autonomous systems.
  • You will tackle complex engineering challenges related to electronics, from concept through to production.
  • You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including software engineers and autonomy experts, to develop and refine our technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop advanced hardware solutions, including PCB layouts and embedded systems, for autonomous marine applications.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware with our real-time data platform and ensure seamless operation.
  • Lead the development of hardware prototypes, perform testing, and refine designs based on performance and feedback.
  • Drive technical decisions related to hardware design and contribute to the evolution of our technology stack.
  • Ensure that all hardware meets military-grade standards for reliability and security.

Some Types of Experiences We're Especially Excited to See:

  • Proven experience in hardware and PCB design, with a portfolio of successful projects.
  • Expertise in designing and testing electronics for high-reliability and high-performance applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools for PCB design.
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power management, and thermal design considerations.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for defense and maritime applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in a startup or rapidly evolving technology environment is highly desirable.
Some types of experiences we're especially excited to see
  • Exposure to optical systems, photodiodes, LEDs, or optical alignment techniques (lab or academic projects count!).
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, impedance matching, or low-noise analog design.
  • Knowledge of piezoelectric sensors or underwater acoustics.
  • Desire to transition from RF to related fields like sonar or acoustic sensing.

Why join us?

Andrenam is building the infrastructure for autonomous maritime systems, supporting critical national security missions. You’ll be part of a nimble, ambitious team operating at the intersection of hardware, autonomy, and defense innovation. We offer:

  • Access to a unique work environment, blending technology, maritime, and defense.
  • Long-term equity incentive program with significant growth potential.
  • Flexible PTO and paid holidays.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision insurance
  • 401k
  • Lunch and snacks provided
