About this role
AndrenaM is seeking an Electronics Technician passionate about supporting real-time maritime communication technology to advance the central nervous system for maritime autonomy. This is a unique opportunity to join our team in Hawthorne, California, contributing to the assembly, testing, and maintenance of cutting-edge technology for autonomous marine systems.

Our primary challenge is to support the development of a real-time data platform that processes data from thousands of autonomous and semi-autonomous marine systems. As an Electronics Technician, you will play a key role in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting hardware to ensure seamless operation with a variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, and AI-driven analytics, all meeting military-grade standards for reliability and security.

In This Role:

  • You will assist in the assembly, testing, and maintenance of hardware for maritime autonomous systems.
  • You will tackle technical challenges related to electronics assembly and troubleshooting, from prototype to production.
  • You will work as a skilled Electronics Technician specializing in precision PCB soldering, harness assembly, and innovative interconnect design for high-reliability electronic systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits, PCB assemblies, and embedded systems for autonomous marine applications.
  • Support engineers in integrating hardware with our real-time data platform to ensure reliable operation.
  • Perform testing and validation of hardware prototypes, documenting results and reporting issues for design improvements.
  • Lead Wire Harness assembly for products and test equipment.
  • Follow technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate and high-quality work.

Some Types of Experiences We're Especially Excited to See:

  • Proven experience in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electronic circuits and PCB assemblies.
  • Expert in soldering, wiring, and assembling microcontroller-based systems or embedded electronics.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Proven experience in wire harness assembly and interconnect design.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for defense or maritime electronics is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in a startup, manufacturing, or technology-driven environment is desirable.

Additional information

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Core Desired Qualities:

  1. Electronics Fundamentals - Knowledge of power systems, communications, sensors, and basic circuit troubleshooting.
  2. Assembly and Testing - Experience with assembling and testing electronic boards, with some familiarity with PCB layouts.
  3. System Support - Ability to support engineers in understanding trade-offs in electronics systems, such as power or sensor configurations. Nice to have: Experience supporting complex systems like those in EVs, avionics, or defense applications.

Relevance to RF:

  • Acoustic processing shares similarities with RF DSP, offering an exciting opportunity for technicians transitioning from RF-related fields to an adjacent area.

  1. Analog Front End
    • Analog-to-digital converter assembly and testing.
    • Support for STM32-like chips to forward signals to the main processor.
  2. Hydrophone (at some point in-house built):
    • Assembly of piezo ceramic elements and pre-amplifiers.
    • Support for underwater condenser microphone-like systems.
